Hi, I’m MacKensie & I MISS BLOGS
I think I’m the only person who stills checks Feedly daily to see if any of my favorite bloggers are still writing into the void, and recently I’ve seen some of them slide on over to Substack (prob bc I’m the only one reading their blogs). So as a former blogger myself (you can see where I wrote one singular post for all of 2023 here) who refuses to let this art form die, I thought I’d give it a try too.
Some stuff about me
I used to blog every. single. day. and I did not have a niche. My first ever blog was all about music—live shows, playlists, essays on emo band feuds, music videos that touched my soul. I think I wrote a total of 5 posts before giving it up forever. So when I launched One to Nothin’ back in 2011, the plan was to write about *anything* I liked, which turned out to be crafts, cooking, fashion (aka taking photos of myself in Forever21 outfits), running/exercise, and lots of personal essays trying to figure out who I was.
I grew up and went to college in Central Florida, moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for eight years, and moved back to the swamp in March 2020 (a complete COVID-cidence, if you will). If you go back far enough on my blog, you’ll see me get my heart broken, move across the country with my dog Ziggy and without a job, find one I thought was IT, get laid off, make friends, navigate lifelong anxiety, find and leave a couple other jobs, run a marathon, drink lots of wine, eventually find my current career as a beauty copywriter (I work for Sephora), get engaged, add another dog, Leon, to the fam, have a baby (really fast at home! With hypnosis! EMTs had to come!), and get married to my brilliant British husband (sort of in that order).
Since my epic birth and wedding, we bought a house, traveled with our girl to France and England, and I’m now entering my third trimester with baby #2 (for which I’ve documented nothing due to constant toddler chasing).
These days I’m really into reading, music, mental health, neural manifestation (I’ve been a TBM member for a few years now), skincare, and all things pregnancy/motherhood/empowering women, so if you’re down for some of that—especially third trimester birth prep (I’ll be using Hypnobabies again) and inevitably a TMI birth story—and a lot of whatever else feels right, then please join me by subscribing below.
Love this!😍
